Has anyone seen this? It’s no wonder young men today are so mixed up with stuff like this being put out by the police.

They are insulting us in so many ways.

The named person bill
The ferries
the Gender Recognition Act
the income tax rates
The uncosted council tax freeze
The rent controls
The census

Of all of their breathtaking stupid things the SNP/Greens have done this is the very worst. Why do they think this is a good thing to do? Where are the positives? Why do people vote got these brain dead morons? Why can’t they actually think policies through? It’s so embarrassing!

This whole bill will clearly be quietly dropped at the first opportunity, but in the meantime what a staggering waste of money. Is this where our taxes go? Is this why Glasgow has to cut the number of teachers in their schools? Is this why we have a country full of potholes? What were they thinking???

To actually talk about white-male entitlement makes me feel really uncomfortable. Young men have enough issues at the moment without this.

I just don’t feel anyone has heard about the Hate Crime Bill. I just asked my Dh, who generally follows the news and is interested in politics, but he wasn’t aware of it. I only heard via Twitter and possibly on here.

Police Scotland totally lost the plot some time ago. It needs complete reform and to concentrate on policing and not virtue signalling. It needs to not be constantly pulled in to whatever the latest Scottish Government agenda is. It's so tiresome. The hate monster? What??

rickyrickygrimes · 16/03/2024 08:02

I’m so glad there is a thread on this. I’m a Scot living abroad but try to keep up on what’s going on back ‘home’ and I am just slack—jawed with shock at the crap that the SNP /Greens keep coming out with, particularly the GRA debacle. It just all seems so … stupid! Is the talent pool for politicians really so shallow ?

Is this what ‘progressive’ means? Minds so open that their brains just fall out?

i find it hard to talk to my family about any of this. My parents became massive NS fans during Covid, and believe that her downfall was down to evil plotting and others determined to sabotage her 🙄. And my sister, for professional reasons, is as woke as they come. My best friend from uni has two daughters in their 20s, and she has been re-educated by then on what’s ‘allowed’ to be said / thought and her son is (by her reckoning) going through the motions of being bi to fit in with his peer group 🤷‍♀️.

I just can’t get my head around this apparently widely-held conviction that hurting feelings or being offensive or rude is such a big deal! The Scotland I knew was fairly robust: where has that gone?

As Stephen Fry said “It's now very common to hear people say, 'I'm rather offended by that.' As if that gives them certain rights. It's actually nothing more... than a whine. 'I find that offensive.' It has no meaning; it has no purpose; it has no reason to be respected as a phrase. 'I am offended by that.' Well, so fucking what." Sums it up for me.

And breathe 😂

Another reminder of how far Scotland has fallen. We used to be renowned for self reliance and self improvement. Now resentment and victimhood are encouraged.

That communication is appalling. I can’t even make out who the intended audience is?!

The only people who could be receptive to this are those who think they are on ‘the right side of history’ and love to feel superior to everyone else. So that they can feel good about themselves whilst, unreflectively thinking, ‘yeah, you have the hate monster, not me, I’m too good for that, but you, you socially deprived oik.’

It’s condescending, its use of childish imagery is highly inappropriate, and jars with the real complex social issues it references. It’s highly politicized. And most importantly, it alienated and insults those it needs to engage with to address this issue.

TooOldForThisNonsense · 19/03/2024 21:43

That legislation is horrific and the ad is an embarrassment.

Sex is excluded as a PC so women can continue to receive death and rape threats without consequence. But insult a member of the transgender community and you risk being charged with a crime. Totally fucking bonkers

ArabellaScott · 19/03/2024 21:49

The intended audience is everyone. This law - and this campaign - is calculated to keep everyone scared, silent, and compliant.

Rainbowshit · 19/03/2024 23:20

It's insanity. Utter insanity.

Yet people will still vote SNP/Green because wheesht for Indy. Fucking wake up!!
