Help me find a place to elope near Loch Lomond

I live in Glasgow but don’t have a car, so can’t scout out locations near Loch Lomond.

I’m looking for a nice beach or viewpoint (hopefully without too much of a climb 😂) to elope with my partner, two witnesses and a celebrant.

I was thinking Firkin Point, but grateful for any suggestions!

Thanks

Luss might work for you. Good luck and congrats

I was going to suggest Firkin Point, then I read the whole post!

Lodge on Loch Lomond fits your bill. It has its own beach.

edit: are you not wanting a hotel, or do you want just a beach? you might need permission from the council. I don't think you can just turn up.

Nice beach at Luss but it can get busy with tourists. Balmaha might be worth a shout. I think there’s a bay just up from the Oak Tree Inn which would be great for a meal/drink afterwards.

Lodge on Lochgoil, or something similar. Stunning

bravotango · 07/03/2024 19:55

Yes balmaha! Good suggestion from pp

We did this! We were at inveruglas but they've built a silly tower thing there nowhere

Appin · 07/03/2024 20:06

Millarochy Bay, with the lone tree.

Luss, it’s beautiful

MississippiAF · 07/03/2024 20:10

Luss is beautiful

Firefightress1 · 07/03/2024 23:24

Falls of falloch! So dramatic and beautiful.

Threeboysadogacatandakitten · 08/03/2024 00:34

Luss is beautiful. My parents were married in the church at Luss in 1961 and I was christened there.

motheronthedancefloor · 08/03/2024 11:09

Land at luss is owned by the clan whose name I forget, and that includes the beach so youd probably need permission

Sturmundcalm · 09/03/2024 16:59

if you don't already have a celebrant then you could try the Argyll and Bute Council registrars team - they'd probably know where would be straightforward/they could do.

W. Dun/Stirling might be able to as well but it's the A&B ones I've seen post on facebook...

In Scotland it is the person who is licensed to conduct weddings, not the place that is licensed. So yes of course you can just turn up somewhere and get married . I’m assuming it’s as the Op says, just 5 people standing there while 3 of them say some words.

Obviously if it’s a public place then you might not have it to yourself.

Most people plan a wedding like this with the back up plan of a suitable building, because weather.

motheronthedancefloor · 09/03/2024 18:48

I know people who work for luss estates and you definitely can't just turn up. There's been some conflict with the church, wedding videographers and all sorts with regards to what they are allowed to do. OP needs to make contact and check for sure.

N0Tfunny · 09/03/2024 18:59

I think many places have restrictions on professional photography on private land. But the Op said it was just 5 people , no photographers.

How would anyone tell the difference between me and my 10 mates going for a ramble and the Op and 4 others standing on a beach while 2 of them exchange vows?

Not being goady , just genuinely confused.

Go a bit (ok, a fair bit) further to Old Castle Lachlan and get married overlooking Loch Fyne.

And make it a day that Inver, literally next door, is free so you can go there for dinner (and ideally when they've got one of their wee bothies free so you can stay the night but that might not be easy).
