Last day of school/s4

We are in Perth. DS is leaving school at the end of S4. I have asked school what the date will be as our school goes up a year May/June time. I still await a response but would anyone happen to know dates? I perhaps just have to wait on school coming back as something tells me not every high school moves up a year once exams are done. They wait until the start of the new term in August.

It might depend what age he is? Is he 16 before the exams finish?

From Scot gov website

If you turn 16 between 1 March and 30 September you can leave school after 31 May of that year. If you turn 16 between 1 October and the end of February you can leave at the start of the Christmas holidays in that school year.

I didn’t think to look there. He’s 16 in June so looks like the end of May. Thank you.

If it helps, the SQA exam diet finishes on 30 May, so my DC starts S5 on 31 May. That start date might be different in different schools, but the exam diet will be nationwide.

If he has exams his last exam would be his last day. If not, he might not have study leave so might be expected in school until the point the school switches the timetable.
I've never known a school not to move the years up at some point in June, though that's not to say there might not be one somewhere.

What the policy says and what happens in reality are two different things. Most S4 leavers won't return to school after their last exam. There's really no point.
