Looking for a family trip (preferably within Scotland) for 2/3 nights in early May. It’s to mark a special occasion so would like somewhere nice. We’re happy to travel.

There will be myself, DH and our 3.5 year old. We’re open to all kinds of ideas - hotels, self catering lodges etc (preferably no caravan parks!). Would love if there was a swimming pool and some activities/places for nice day trips nearby.

I keep coming back to Crieff Hydro as it seems to tick all the boxes but we’ve been a good few times and would like to try something new. Can anyone recommend anywhere? 😊

Center parcs has always been fully booked or crazy expensive when we've look at it. Love Arran, but been to that area recently so will save that for another time.

Quite fancy East Lothian or Borders area so Peebles Hydro was a possibility, or maybe there is a other family hotel or lodges or something in that area I am missing!

I've stayed in the Crieff Hydro many times, the Auchrannie a few times and also the hotel at Cadrona nr Peebles but not the Hydro. We used to enjoy the Coylumbrudge in Aviemore when DC were young and it was a Hilton. No idea what it is like nowadays. You also have the Mcdonald resort. There is a lot to do in the area even if you just get a cotrage/flat/Lodge.

There are the Forest Holuday lodges too. Nicer lodges than Center parcs but less in the way of activities. Getting a lodge nr Keswick has also been a favourite and you have the facilities of the Lake District to choose from.

Loch Ken have an activity centre that has lots to do but I think the accommodation is pretty basic. We just stayed in a nearby village and went there to do a days worth of things.
