Help! Glasgow or Edinburgh activities for birthday day out

looking for inspiration…..it is DP’s birthday in a few days, I had a plan in place of experience style things to do on the day, rather than big physical gifts as he is really difficult to buy for. But the time of year is not helping… I had looked at Central Station Tours, Britannia Panopticon and splatter painting but all closed on the day. I’m starting to feel very stuck!

Has anyone got any ideas of fun family things that we could do for a birthday treat? Nothing too outdoorsy/active as that’s not DP’s thing, but anything interesting or different (also suitable for kids under 10). Thank you in advance for your (hopeful) collective wisdom!

Oh I should have added - also not alcohol related as that’s not his thing.

Boombattle Bar in Omni Centre in Edinburgh has a variety of different things to do. Or the St James Quarter has bowling and various places to eat.

Botanic lights, national museum before that and a nice dinner in between?

Escape Room followed by lunch/dinner. Some of them are geared towards families.

Edinburgh dungeon, castle tour or afternoon tea at the Signet library?

I love Dynamic Earth, and there's easy parking underneath it.

Thanks for the suggestions! Boom battle bar looks fab but kids are too young 🙁. Any other suggestions welcome too!

The Camera Obscura and illusions in Edinburgh is worth a visit.
We went to Mary Kings Close, but I don't know if that is of interest too.
I've previously been to the castle and the dungeons .
Theresa also the zoo. I believe there's a bus from beside the station.

Hatchet Harry's axe throwing? Although I think there is a minimum age for the kids.
