Heat tech incoming! Uniqlo is opening in Edinburgh!

So Uniqlo is going to be opening in the old BHS building. THANK GOD.
It's such a tragic empty site.

I'm not as enthusiastic about heat tech undergarments or round bum bags worn across the body as some on here, but I've been to Uniqlo and their shops have a brilliant, modern vibe.

Could this mark a turnaround for Princes Street? They're recruiting now by the way, alert your teenagers!

I’m excited about this too! Uniqlo is always a stop if we go to London. I like their super light down (otherwise known as my summer down).

ApolloandDaphne · 13/11/2023 13:25

I am so excited about this, as is my elderly DM who has just been introduced to the delights of Heat Tech.

gawditswindy · 13/11/2023 16:44

I'm sure there was a Uniqlo in Glasgow years ago, just off Nelson Mandela place? All the news reports are claiming this is the first one in Scotland but I'm convinced. Anyone else remember it?

I used to think this too but couldn't find any evidence so decided I must have dreamt it. How peculiar.

Yes, I'm sure there was - I was never terribly impressed but it was there! Wasn't it near GoMA?

gawditswindy · 13/11/2023 19:17

I'm pretty sure it was somewhere along that red line.

TheMurderousGoose · 13/11/2023 19:19

Yes @gawditswindy that's exactly where I thought it was too. But apparently it never was Confused

There must have been a Uniqlo mirage that we stumbled upon.

gawditswindy · 13/11/2023 19:21

It's the Walkers salt and vinegar all over again.

LaviniasBigBloomers · 13/11/2023 19:39

Was it not Muji that used to be in NMSqu?

Anyway I am super-excited about Uniqlo, especially given I can't get my head around their T-shirt sizing online and I need kit for a trip to Poland in December... also delighted to see anyone decent going into Princes Street.

Wbeezer · 13/11/2023 19:49

I think it was Muji, I was disappointed when it closed.

AgentProvocateur · 13/11/2023 19:57

Muji used to be in Queen St. there’s definitely never been a Uniqlo in Glasgow, sadly.

ditalini · 13/11/2023 19:58

Was Muji not in Queen St? It might have moved though.

I'm v pleased re: Uniqlo.

Wbeezer · 13/11/2023 20:26

I'm not very good with Glasgow geography!

treadingonlego · 13/11/2023 20:31

Yes, gawditswindy! That's where I remember it!

Yes!! I remember it. It was across from Buchanan galleries. I too couldn't find any evidence of it online but I am sure there was one.

treadingonlego · 13/11/2023 20:35

Oooo, it was an American Apparel!! Imagine us finding a mandela effect at Nelson Mandela Place... 🤯

SirChenjins · 13/11/2023 20:36

Brilliant news! Another reason to go into town 😊

😂😂

No way! I was so convinced it had been a (shite) uniqlo. But now you've said American Apparel it makes perfect sense.

gawditswindy · 13/11/2023 22:14

I would have sworn blind that I had never set foot in a branch of American apparel. Hmm

There was a massive jeans shop there too, you could ring the bell on the way out if you'd had good service.

Plump82 · 14/11/2023 11:58

Yep definitely American Apparel and it was indeed shite!
