We’ve got the panto which is at the festival theatre this year. I’m planning ahead. We’ve got the 2 pm performance so I’d like somewhere to eat about 5, do a bit of the markets and then the bus home.

I have booked dishoom but we have done that a few times. I’m not keen on Amarone. Can you suggest anywhere else in the area for a sit down meal? 2 adults and teenagers 14 and 15.

What kind of food do you like? Sen is a Vietnamese restaurant on West Nicholson Street and it's great. Slight detour, but v close to the festival theatre.

I haven't been but Kanpai in the St James centre is supposed to be excellent. I also really like Wahaca, right by St Andrew square - obviously a chain, but a good one imo.

Thank you. Pretty much we will eat anything. I’m trying to avoid having nothing booked and DH and the kids wanting Burger King 🤮

Last time we went to the Theatre we went to the Jolly for pizza, nothing flash but great service, very tasty and good value. I'm maybe not the best review though as I've just had lunch at Amarone and enjoyed it!! :-)

I went to cafe andaluz in the summer and had a lovely meal with good service. I know it's a chain but it has a really nice authentic vibe about it. It's not far from St Andrews square.

Chez Joules 2 or 3 course lunch. Cheap and delicious. Gets booked up quickly though.

It's on Hanover St

Bonnie and Wild is excellent, but you can't book in advance.
Kan Pai is also great.
Both in St James Quarter.

What about going along Chambers Street to Vittorias on George the IV bridge or Bertie's on Victoria Street then down the mound to the markets?

If you’re going to the festival
theatre and like Indian then Mother India’s cafe.

City Restaurant right next to Festival Theatre.
Not 'exciting' (pizza, pasta, burgers) but excellent fresh home made food & they do lovely Huge Italian salads & good desserts. Well priced too. Recommend it.

I love chez joules, really good value and delicious food.

I second City Restaurant or Ciao Roma, both just next to the festival theatre.

Think some people are getting Kanpai (Japanese place on Grindlay St) and Ka Pao (South East Asian fusion place in St James) confused with each other.
