What one would you recommend most?
The reviews for The Maharaja and The Mint Leaf are both very good. Could there be any I'm missing?

The best one was the Nawab, now sadly closed. To be fair, they are all decent so it's mostly down to personal taste.

The green gates might be another option for you.

I saw The Green Gates do Quorn options which is different (I'm vegetarian) so that sounds appealing as well!

Actually I've mixed it up. Maharaja has Quorn. The Green Gates looks excellent. There's Green Gates Cafe in Glasgow I've been to which is brilliant, I'm wondering if it's the same owner.

We went to the Green Gates quite recently actually, I grew up in Stirling and was back visiting. I liked the decor and overall feel. They upsold a lamb curry to a lamb shank and it was delicious, well worth the extra. But the daal was a bit underwhelming.

I also felt the town as a whole has got really shabby- so many betting shops and it’s sad in the Thistles now Debenhams has gone. But the Wallace Monument never fails to deliver!

Ah sorry I guess as a vegetarian my info about the lamb shank is a bit pointless!

My PIL aren't veggie so they would be happy to hear your recommendation. We're in Stirling quite a lot as we like it for a night away. I think it's just like any smaller town but I do reckon some of the pubs and some restaurants are really quite good for a town it's size.
I've done some digging and they do own the one in Glasgow I mentioned so I think we'll go as I really did enjoy my meal there. Plus they've said my FIL can bring his own beer for a small BYOB as he's celiac and liked a gluten-free beer with a curry.

I was also going to recommend the lamb shank 😂

Green Gates is really excellent.

Plump82 · 13/08/2023 07:26

Well that's decided then. Green Gates it is!
