Hope it's ok to ask this on here. We're coming to Glasgow for a weekend away- can you suggest a good area to stay to be close to the middle of town where we can find bars and restaurants etc?

Do you want something luxury or budget ?
There are plenty of both in city centre.

luxury - Dakota, Malmaison etc
budget - Holiday Inn express

Radisson Red by the Clydeside is also a good modern base to explore theb city and close to bars and restaurants of Finnieston and West End.

citizen m is very quirky and cool

Voco and Carlton George Hotel are probably the most central options and more traditional.

Hope this helps

I love Grasshoppers which is close to the train station. It's really reasonable and very cool. They have free cupcakes and home made ice cream in the corridor, lovely staff and rooms are really comfortable with lovely decor. Very central!

Holiday Inn Express at top of Renfield Street is decent - and usually includes breakfast.

Are you travelling by car or public transport. The Ambassador and The Albion in the west end are nice, family owned and there's loads of eating places nearby and the subway for getting into the city centre

Native Glasgow is fab, apart-hotel with really well equipped kitchen in each room, above Anchor Line pub and very central.

Ibis Styles in in Waterloo st is reasonable, comfy beds, air con and late check out. Central too. I've stayed there a few times.

I've also recently stayed at the Clayton (Clyde St) also nice and good location.

Plenty of premier Inn's around, the premier plus rooms are good. Modern, comfortable Beds etc.

I'm booked in to Motel one at the end of the month. Never stayed there before but reviews are good. The most important consideration for me nowadays is air con and a comfy bed. I had the Sandman booked and cancelled due to no air con, can't sleep nowadays unless it's cold!
