So Covid Maggie finally got her comeuppance, she should have gone immediately IMHO but clung on for 2 years (or was it 3?) claiming her ££££ salary. At least she says she's not standing again.

Really hope the SNP take a huge kicking but they probably have a team of taxpayer funded spin doctors already working on how to promote a defeat as a good thing.

The Tories voted tactically - not something they'll be willing to repeat everywhere. Especially since they don't believe TWAW.

And the Labour activists did their damnedest to cancel anyone or any hustings that wanted to discuss their TWAW policy. But they can't cancel the entire electorate and they can't cancel everyone at surgeries.

GenieGenealogy · 06/10/2023 09:13

I think every voter in Scotland has to to a juggling act with priorities. Do I believe that transwomen are women? No I don't. But neither do I believe that Scotland should be independent, which is far more of a permanent policy change.

So I would vote Labour/Conservative/LibDem - whoever is most likely to defeat the SNP. Because that is the overriding issue.

Exactly OP. Labour have lost my support in general due to their TWAW rhetoric. However I'd vote for them to defeat the SNP as and when required.

I suspect that labour aren't as entrenched in their sex/gender position as the SNP.

Rainbowshit · 06/10/2023 09:57

"The Tories voted tactically - not something they'll be willing to repeat everywhere."

This is good. Labour biters would be very unlikely to vote Tory tactically. So if Tory voters are now voting Labour tactically then hopefully the SNP will get wiped out at the next GE.

BigBoysDontCry · 06/10/2023 10:08

Just watching the excuses rolling in. Snp voters turned away due to lack of ID, reputation of previous candidate who they'd already expelled, voters not being asked for ID.......

MontyJames · 06/10/2023 10:57

While Michael Shanks is a TWAW devotee, I am glad of this result. The SNP are a bunch of incompetent crooks. This was my old stomping ground before I moved down here 7 years ago and the states of Education, Health and public services were appalling . Goodness knows what they are like now. I hope things get easier for the people of Ruggy and Blantyre.

Sounds like the SNP are taking the Trump approach to losing an election

BigBoysDontCry · 06/10/2023 11:34

I can't think of any subliminal messaging that could be any more damaging to the SNP than their own behaviours/mismanagement or that couldn't just be said out loud 🤷‍♀️

Squirrel on the loose?

That was a disgusting campaign. I'm not sure it was particularly subliminal. I generally take that to mean hidden messaging that convinces you to do something without you noticing.

Yes I agree. Perhaps they didn't want to directly accuse of dirty tricks in case Humza had to apologise.... again... 😂

Despite his illness, Kennedy had more honesty, integrity and decentness in his little finger than Billy buster has in his whole corpulent body. Who votes for these arse holes?

This is all nonsense, I live in the area and when I went to vote yesterday (name changed for this because it would be easier to figure out who I am from my previous posts!) they were really strict about ID and sent me back out to get it from the car.

I've lost confidence in labour, but anything's better than the SNP in my book.

readsalotgirl63 · 06/10/2023 13:59

There was a complaint by the SNP about a tweet by South Lanarkshire Council about how to vote which used red text to encourage people to vote - this was apparently biased subliminal messaging. I read the story last night on either BBC or the Times - but now cant find it.

How deep is the barrel they're trying to scrape the bottom of? If it was in yellow text they'd be moaning that no one could read it.

annabelindajane · 08/10/2023 11:54

“ Who votes for these Arseholes?”

Those 8399 who are keeping me awake at night😂

GenieGenealogy · 08/10/2023 12:37

I think there are two possible explanations.

First you have the group of people who believe in independence at all costs and see the SNP as a means to an end - vote for them, get independence, return to voting Labour or Lib Dem or Tory or whatever. Misguided, but I can understand their argument.

Second group are the knuckle-dragging, English hating, Tory despising Braveheart contingent.

OP posts:
BigBoysDontCry · 08/10/2023 15:04

Yep, barrel scraping. Notice they never complained about Nicoliar always wearing red suits? Maybe that's where they went wrong...

Honestly though they just remind me of the whiney kid that everyone hates. Always has to be someone else's fault. None of them have the balls to ever admit they were wrong without at the same time being snidey and blaming it on something or someone else.

IveHadItUpToHere · 08/10/2023 15:04

Tbh they shouldn't have used a party colour for a voting message. That's public messaging 101 but the SNP are going to be in for a shock if the extent of their reflection on their loss is blaming everyone but themselves. They thought they could rely on loyalty from independence supporters even if they did nothing about independence, pushed through self-id (which is hugely unpopular), pandered to the Greens (which is full of misogynists) and didn't distance themselves from the leadership who are subject to the ongoing police investigations.
The only problem is that all the opportunists who have effectively trashed the SNP will now be making inroads into the other parties. There's already areas where the 'student' activists have switched from SNP to Labour so they can push their self-id and TWAW agenda there.
