Is a Young Scot card accepted as ID for Ryanair?

Just as the title says really!

Has anyone used Young Scot Card for their children's ID to fly with Ryanair? Their website says passport or National ID card.

Don't want to travel 4 hours to the airport to get turned away. DC's passports are out of date. Flight is from Scotland to Ireland, so within the Comon Travel Area. Passports not needed for boarder control, just for ID for the flights.

They might not look at the date on the passport if it's just for id and not a baby photo when child is 16, kind of out of date

How old is your dc? Over 16s need id, younger shoudl be ok with parents? Iirc the Young Scot pass was valid for recent elections as it has a particular stamp,

You need passports as per the link from @RollinRollinRollinRawhide You go through border control when you arrive in Ireland from the UK. It's only coming back into the UK that you arrive as "domestic" passenger.

Thanks everyone, I appreciate the replies. Have decided to wait until passports are renewed...not worth the risk. I tried the Ryanair online chat and was told "if your embassy says that you can travel with it then you will be able to. We do not have different rules other than the restrictions provided by the countries". This does not fill me with confidence as if that were the case, they should accept driver's licence which the embassy says is fine, but ryanair website clearly states is not!

DC are 13 and 15 and look significantly different (hair styles/colour) from their cute passport photos taken when they were 7 and 9 🤣
