This is a very, very frightening development. I can see large numbers of Scottish people facing criminal prosecution, and many caring parents losing their children.

I think it will be all hot air to be honest. Yes I think some GC parents will be hassled but social services does not have the resources to investigate these matters to a significant extent. Children's care placements are hugely expensive for local authorities and there are just not enough foster places . The care system/social work departments are already overstretched. If Sturgeon tries to impose this rubbish, it will collapse at the first hurdle. It's designed to make us all scared to be GC and make us feart from our weans

Oh for gods sake.

It will be very easy to arrest people and to give them a criminal record. And think about how much power your teenager will have over you. If your daughter mentions that she'd rather be a boy, what can you say? Great idea, well done.
If she asks you whether there are any risks to gender reassignment, what can you safely say? If she's thinking about de-transitioning? If she begs you to give her your advice? Under these proposals, even an adult can't consent to someone saying anything to them that discourages them becoming trans or encourages them to de-transition. Becoming and staying trans seems to be the ultimate good.

Total denial.

Put it is way, if Maggie Chapman thinks this bill is a great idea, then any sensible person should take the opposite view. Remember this is a woman who said in her Green Christmas message just before the GRC bill vote, and during her speech on the day, that she wants 6 & 7 year old to be able to say they are trans. She also quoted Butler in her wee speech, which caused great amusement among those of us in the public gallery I can tell you , and she mention non binary & this bill in their plans for this year.

SNP/ Greens want to turn them into mini adults, they want to turn children against their parents. They want to stop parents speaking to their children, It’s utter madness.

RhannionKPSS · 06/01/2023 13:53

Please take this threat to safeguarding children & freedom of speech seriously. Please make yourselves aware of exactly what this bill entails, who are behind it and what their motives may be.

Please note that this is the same committee that are dealing with this bill, that dealt with the GRC reform bill, and with only 2 notable exceptions, are completely biased.
Please don’t be complacent about this.

lifeinthelastlane · 06/01/2023 14:54

@Cheekymaw you say social services lack the resources to investigate - but I'd have said the same about the police, who seem to find plenty of time and money to look into complaints made against gc women.

”Please take this threat to safeguarding children & freedom of speech seriously. Please make yourselves aware of exactly what this bill entails, who are behind it and what their motives may be.”

This. Completely agree with Rhannion .

I would also point out that parents who do not immediately affirm their child as the opposite sex are already at risk of being reported to social services by their child’s school. Our daughter’s former school did this to us and the stress of it had near catastrophic consequences for her. I know quite a few other parents who have had the same experience. At the moment, social services have discretion and don’t have to push affirmation (our social worker agreed with the clinical advice we’d received to not affirm and said the school were causing division), but this proposal won’t give them any leeway.

But why?
It's so reminiscent of Communist China. Families stopped talking to each other, in case the children shopped the parents for wrongspeak. Not long ago either - only the 1960s and 70s.

Because Chapman, Harvie etc etc want Scotland to be different from England? because the Greens have Sturgeon & the SNP over a barrel? because Fitzpatrick, Chapman, Harvie etc are weirdos? I honestly don’t know, what I do know is that this is another dangerous bill and we have to push back against it.
