Transgender surgery to become easily accessible?

How do people feel about the Scottish government's apparent plans to make transgender surgery quickly and easily accessible? With just a referral from a GP. Among other concerns, it seems to me that this will cost a great deal of money and push other operations back, especially bearing in mind the very high rate of complications.

Why would anyone in Scotland put themselves through painful surgery with a low success rate when all they have to do is whack on a frock and declare their new name is Brenda. That's plenty to be accepted as a full, 100% woman according to the Scottish government. No need for hormones or surgery or anything inconvenient like that.

Since this is a shit stirring newspaper reporting on what another shit stirring newspaper says it has seen, which has no official status, I'm not going to spend any more time thinking about it.

What they don't want to talk about is the implosion of the Conservative parliamentary party and the polls showing that we will have a Labour government quite soon.

Excellent news.

Utterly ridiculous. And tax payers will have to suffer for this.

Joke.
Don't agree with this pathway at all. The funds should be going into recruiting excellent NHS and education staff who can teach children about homophobia, sex stereotypes, marketing of porn, apply skills in counselling struggling young parents and help them to make good life choices, have an affordable home, a decently paid job and access to these skilled people in maternity, health visitors, GP's. This needs to bloody just stop.
A whole societal rethink is needed and quick.

I suspect it will be mainly young women going through very difficult and very high risk (and extremely expensive) surgery.
