Flying Ryanair from Edinburgh with hand luggage only

Has anyone flown recently with the 10kg cabin bag?
I'm going to Italy this weekend and trying to work out my airport timings.

If I have the cabin bag only, when I arrive at airport do I just head straight through security and to the gate?

We flew as a family at Easter so had a large suitcase going in the hold.
When we went to Ryanair area to do the self service bag drop, which was very quick, there were quite a lot of people with small cabin cases queuing at a desk. I'm not really sure what that was about but I'm hoping I don't need to go to that area with my cabin bag?

At Easter it may have been so check in staff could check their covid documents were in order for wherever they were going.

Do it all the time, as long as you're already checked in yes you go straight to security.

We flew from Edinburgh in July to Spain with only 10kg cabin bags. Check in online then just head straight to security when you get to the airport. Although there was a bit of a queue at security it moved along pretty quickly.
Be warned though, the worst bit of all the airport experiences was the massive queue at passport control on return to Edinburgh!

That's great, thanks for all the info.
