Wings has covered this story too I think. SNP are trying to play it down and say it's just about being respectful (which would actually make a nice change, but somehow I don't think they mean being respectful of unionist views or even, god forbid, conservative ones). But they explicitly list 'transphobia' as one of the things that won't be tolerated, and under the SNP's definition of transphobia is, for example, believing that transwomen are biologically male, which automatically excludes anyone gender critical or anyone with a working knowledge of biology or medicine. As a unionist I say let them tear themselves apart with this student union level nonsense. Perhaps it will shine a light on the issues that certain groups have been trying to sneak through with 'No debate', and as an added bonus it makes the UK gov, with their recent reinforcement of women's rights, look like the grown ups in the room all the more.
