Covid vaccine 5 to 11 in Lothian

Does anyone have info when the kids will be invited for their Covid vaccine? It was approved back in February, but I can't find any info apart from "wait to be contacted".

I'd like to be done with it before we go on holiday in July, but it looks more and more unlikely...

Info on clinics here

We got invitations in the post last week for two of mine in that age group. The eldest got hers about a month ago.

Thanks @CuddlyCactus, seems Edinburgh has no drop-in for under 12. They are so painfully slow! I guess I could try my luck at one of the clinics in Midlothian or East Lothian. Or wait and hope we can travel with just 1 jag.

There’s some under-12 drop-in clinics in Edinburgh - near the bottom of this page. www.nhslothian.scot/Coronavirus/Vaccine/Pages/Drop-in-Clinics.aspx

Our area are just doing appointments I think. Our 7yo's are getting their second on Saturday and dd11 invited for her first at same time (dh is cev so were invited ages ago, dd refused).

How long before travelling do you need to be fully vaxxed?

CuddlyCactus · 13/04/2022 18:52

Do you have a car @Callisto1 ?
If so I'd be tempted to head to Dalkeith if you have a timescale you need it done by.

Lothian are so slow, they always seem to be behind other areas so who knows how long you'd be waiting for a letter 🤷🏼‍♀️

Callisto1 · 13/04/2022 19:16

Thanks @GoldenOmber I didn't notice the ones at the bottom we're for under 12. My phone struggles to display the whole table!🤦🏻‍♀️
Driving is not a problem so might go to Midlothian. Thanks everyone for pointing me to all the info I missed! Grin

We dropped in for our pair (oldest had letter, youngest did not) last weekend in Edinburgh. They have clinics in various places, Portobello and Pennywell from memory, that are available at the weekend.

kirkandpetal · 13/04/2022 19:58

I'm sure the Conon Doyle Medical Centre in corner of Cameron Toll car park is doing drops in clinic for that age group. Might be weekends only?

ClosedAuraOpenMind · 15/04/2022 22:57

in West Lothian here - DD (11) had her first jag in the first week of the easter holidays. think they were doing it by postcode, as saw most of the street at the clinic

Lavenderlid · 16/04/2022 21:09

Do most places in Europe require this age group to be vaxed/double vaxed?
The rest of the family have all had vaccines but I was not going to take my younger child (who has recently had Covid) to his appointment.

Callisto1 · 16/04/2022 22:14

Last I checked they didn't, but it was approved only last December in Europe. So things could change like it did for the 12 to 18 group, or it could all be fine by summer. Who knows what rules there will be 3 months from now in the times of Covid!
