School return

With so many sectors facing staff shortages, we can assume that schools are going to face significant challenges next week and beyond.
Are there any teachers out there who know what kind of approach we might expect? Is it likely that we will go to blended learning plans?
In terms of senior phase - if there is any significant period of blended learning, in addition to the inevitable return to repeated periods of pupil isolation, surely the exams couldn’t go ahead due to both the loss of learning but also the greatest impacts on pupils in areas facing the highest infection rates and staff/pupil absence. I can imagine we will see some school closures too.

@Explosivefarts 10th here. Was just a local announcement. Crazy though.

My head told us that she had a heads meeting on the 4th with a staff meeting on teams at 9am on the 5th.

Dh tested negative on Lateral flows. His PCR came back positive. I'm still negative but feeling dodgy so have booked a PCR.

Dd tested positive on her PCR but had a scratchy throat after her PCR and it was positive. She's still testing positive 8 days on.

Ds tested positive on the LFT before the PCR result so we had booked PCRs.

So

  1. I'm reluctant to rely on LFTs.
  2. If we have Covid then how will I know? I can't be booking a PCR constantly. My lot had no symptoms before DD's scratchy throat.
  3. Schools are a hotbed for germs at the best of times.

I can't see how we can close but how do we staff it if staff do start going down. We had 6 staff off the last week of term and covering was hard.

That's interesting Groovee, would love to be a fly on the wall! Heads must be tearing their hair out.

@Mistressiggi my last day in school had just me in nursery at 8.15am. I knew I had a supply arriving at 8.30. But where were the rest of my team. Fortunately one ran in late as her child was ill. But we struggled to get supply and it was stressful through out the school.
