Anyone know how non Scottish resident people can get a PCR?

We have American relatives staying with family just now and their DD has tested positive on lateral flow. She's isolating but we really need to book a PCR as she gets weekly PCRs in her school back in California. Does anyone know how to book a PCR in Scotland if you're not Scottish? I've looked online but no luck so far.

Im living in Scotland and I can't get one sent to my home (no transport to walk in) so if you managed to get one for this child I'd be astounded. Its a ridiculous situation, no pcrs in the country apart from Wales so far today.....

Thanks @Frigginintheriggin. The timing really isn't important as they don't leave till 10th Jan. They just need it officially logged that she has covid in case she continues to test positive on PCRs over the next 90 days when she goes back to school.
Rubbish you can't even get a postal PCR. I managed to book a postal one a few days ago for my relatives.

What about the ones you pay for, the fit to fly ones. We just booked a routine one for a relative in Glasgow via randox, but not sure if they would test symptomatic people, you could ring them?

Frazzled2207 · 29/12/2021 15:46

I think you will need a private one

imstilljenny2 · 29/12/2021 15:49

@Heruka they have the Randox ones and we've recommended they use these but these are 'day 2' PCRs so we're not sure if they can be used. Emailed Randox to ask but no reply yet.

Woohoo, managed to order a PCR today 👍
Hope you got your situation sorted too.

I would call the helpline and ask. The fact she's from overseas doesn't really matter, she's a potential case in Scotland now and should be able to access testing in the same way overseas students should be able to get tested.

Phone 119

Private one should be fine , shel get a certificate via email saying she is positive and I’d imagine that would be fine for school

The Randox ones won't work-they emailed back. I managed to get two NHS PCRs booked at Glasgow airport and will try again tomorrow for the other two. Thanks all and glad you managed to book PCRs too.
