Would you change job just now?

I have a new job offer on the table. Just waiting on the written terms.

I don’t know what’s holding me back but I an worried about leaving. Probably a bit irrational. I have been with my current employer 8 years.

I think I’m worried in case there is another lockdown. I know there is no money for Furlough again. Where I work fully closed twice during the last lockdowns. I’m a bit worried in case I don’t get paid in the new place as it’s the same line of work. Accountancy admin.

In normal circumstances, I’d take a leap of faith. Work hard, hopefully enjoy it and stay but I know that I have good skills that if anything went wrong, I could find another job.

As I say, I’m possibly being irrational and watching too much news at 10.

I feel the same OP. I'm currently interviewing but the current covid situation is making me twitchy about leaving. I'm in hospitality.

I'm not sure of the answer!

Id be more worried in hospitality tbh, that sector seems to get shut first or opening hours reduced. Maybe you'd wfh in the new job @Keepthechangefilthyanimal?

But i cant see any more lockdowns. Our numbers are dropping up here. They are getting twitchy in England as theyve had no restrictions for a while now and the cases are going up, so the government keep releasing wee snippets about how bad it'll be without restrictions to justify them bringing back masks and social distancing. Its like the tories want to butter up England so they dont get the blame of masks coming back.

I don't think we'll have another lockdown.
There's no public or political will for it. Lockdowns were while we were waiting for a vaccine.
The vulnerable are all protected now.

If things get very bad this winter there may be restrictions on hospitality or travel but if the job is not in either of those sectors you should be ok.

It sounds like your role could be done from home, is it the associated business you're concerned may shut?

Thanks for posting.

We didn’t get to WFH last time as we need paper files. New place may be entirely different though. I might ask them the question when the terms come through. Yes, lots of clients shut their doors so it has a knock on to what we do.

I can't see any more restrictions like lockdown, I think if there's going to be anything it will be that mass groups can't meet over Christmas as we're heading into flu season.
