Hi

Has anyone heard about their flu vaccine yet? I'm an over 50 asthmatic and have always had it by now

Thanks

Yes - 40's and asthmatic. I figured it would be weeks until the NHS got round to me so had it done at a local chemist. I rang them in the morning to ask what the score was and went down at lunchtime to have it done, no appointment required. Still got it for free (I was willing to pay) as they were linked to the NHS system and could add it to my records.

I was sent a letter with an appointment at end Sept which I rearranged as was on holiday and then rearranged again as had a cold. I'm NHS Grampian

I'm having the same trouble (started a thread about it few weeks ago). I've not heard anything from the NHS and I can't book via the pharmacy because I'm in my 30s. If you're 50+ you should be able to book via Boots/Lloyds etc but appointments are away in November.

containsnuts · 19/10/2021 10:22

It does seem to depend on the area. I'm in the Lothians and had no luck.

bordersroaming · 19/10/2021 10:35

And no pharmacist locally is doing them

My dh is under 50 and paid for a vaccine in Boots in Glasgow
Obel · 19/10/2021 22:33

Paid for me and ds to get the vaccine in Glasgow. I work in social care and don't know how to get the flu vaccine or covid booster from nhs other than wait for my age group to be called. I am 50.

My 78 year old mum just got her flu and covid booster jabs today

containsnuts · 22/10/2021 09:28

Just wondered if you'd had any luck yet, OP? After trying for several weeks, I finally managed to book. What a palaver though! Of all the major pharmacys, Boots were the only one offering appointments for my age group. The online booking service was only showing slots 28 days ahead, all sold out, and it didn't let you book further than 28 days away, so I had to keep checking first thing in the morning for the 28 day slots to be released. I finally managed to grab one! It's not local but within travel distance. I miss the days when I just popped along to the GP surgery.

bordersroaming · 22/10/2021 21:31

Thanks for the tip on checking each day for new slots

So found a slot in a nearby town

Booking system "temporary error "

A few days later find slot in not quite so nearby town

Need to register with boots
Registration fails , error in my page apparently
It's name email and date of birth , think I know them better than boots could

??? What am I missing ?

I’m pregnant and so entitled to the flu vaccine but neither midwife or gp knows what was happening and when/how I’d get my jab! In my area it’s not through the GP this year but through some central service. I just went to the chemist and got it done privately for £12.50….

ICouldHaveCheckedFirst · 29/10/2021 14:21

DH and I (both 60s in Greater Glasgow HB) got letters with appointments for flu jag and CV booster (same appointment - one in each arm apparently). I'm rescheduling as you can only have the CV booster if it's at least 24 weeks since your 2nd jag and it's too soon for me (on the phone as I write this!).

dementedpixie · 29/10/2021 14:24

My mum got her flu jab and the covid one at the same appointment. Covid one hurt more that the flu one
