Dont want to walk about in the dark

I imagine the coffee shops will be closed, dont want to sit in a pub, really skint so cant buy drinks or go to cinema

Any suggestions??

It’s forecast to be raining hard all evening in Glasgow, so I don’t think you’ll want to wander. How about sitting in Central Station or Queen Street Station and just people watching? It’ll at least be dry.

Oh Central Station on a weekend night is FANTASTIC to people watch!
Elieza · 16/10/2021 16:27

I’d second that. You could buy a coke and a burger in mcd’s for £2 each and sit in central station and eat them and people watch.

Not much else to do. Take something to sit on as those seats are cold! Folded up scarf perhaps?

Take change for the loo if you think you might use it (I don’t know if it takes bank cards nowadays or even if it’s now free).

I’ve not been to queen st station since it was done up. That might be interesting.

Maybe. Just sounds a bit miserable.

I wonder if theres a late night coffee shop open anywhere

Tinderbox coffee shop on Ingram St is open until 10pm

Ohshittt · 16/10/2021 16:34

Wetherspoons for refillable coffee and people watching? Not sure where there is one as don't know Glasgow but just a thought!

I presume you are driving? - just go to a Tesco/Asda have a mooch about and hang out in the car park until pick up time.

Literally nothing in Queen Street station now except for a couple of coffee carts, a few rows of railway station metal seats and one retail unit available for let Sad

So if you want to people watch, the Starbucks in Central is probably better Grin There's a Cafe Nero just outside Central on the corner of Waterloo Street - but I'm not sure of its opening hours.

If you're wanting just to take in the atmosphere and people watch - and possibly also get a coffee, then Princes Square should still be open - either the basement or the top level. Not been in for a while though, so not sure what's in there at the moment.

Sadly, the Covid effect means that opening hours remain reduced. The Mitchell library shuts at 4pm every day, and Buchanan Galleries at 6pm. Princes Square is open into the evenings, but possibly difficult to just loiter in if you're not eating or drinking.

We ended up in a McDonald's nursing a coffee each

Most places except pubs and some restaurants seemed to close early

Town was pretty shit actually, not buzzing like back in my day

Almost all princes square closes at 6pm!!! And i mean the restaurants and pubs, not the shops.

How are places surviving??

Missing Borders Books on Buchanan St, it was open til 10 and was a great place to while away time when waiting for a train.

Just reading there was a tragic incident in high street this afternoon so maybe this didn't help the vibe in town tonight.
ssd · 16/10/2021 23:41

I suspect you're right about this. I just wondered if that news plus the rubbish weather made it extra shit.

These are very strange times we are living in at the moment

ssd · 17/10/2021 00:22

Yes i agree
