Anny Estate Agents or property solicitors about?

When I have bought / sold property before here in Scotland offers were always made by solicitors. My dd is looking for her first property and went to view one last weekend. She was shown round by property agent and then told that if she wanted to make an offer she had to do so by 5pm that day (sunday). Is this OK?? Obviously she could not contact solicitor.

It would be a verbal offer followed by written in the morning maybe? We’ve offered verbally in the past via EA but these are crazy times!

@unhappyhomebuyer, she didn't get it. She offered more than home report value and the agent messaged her on Monday to say that she didn't get it. She messaged back to ask what the winning bid was and was told that was confidential information. But the agent hinted what the winning bid was, around £40k more than home report value. This was not a high value property! She was considering using the government scheme as she is not a high wage earner, but it does not allow you to offer more than home report value, and also you need to get their approval to put in an offer which may take up to 5 days, so impossible to do it same day.

Oh I’m so sorry to hear that. I’ve been there myself and it’s just devastating. People tell you it means it wasn’t the right one etc but that’s just rubbish and doesn’t make you feel any better.

Onto the next one. It was third time lucky for us and our successful offer was 15% over

Rubbish about the scheme although I suppose it’s there to help people who don’t have the cash available to allow them to offer offer so kind of makes sense but it’s going to limit people at the moment isn’t it?
