SQA results

So it’s SQA results day tomorrow. As we’ve all had the ‘exam’ results already what is going to happen tomorrow? Will we get letters through the door with certificates? I know we didn’t sign up for the text (as far as I can recall) so won’t be getting an early morning text. Going to be strange isn’t it?!

In England it seems as though they’re getting their results tomorrow as normal - I can’t work out whether the pupils got an indication of their results before they broke up - seems to be that they didn’t judging by the nervous posts on various fora.

Did you all celebrate the results before the end of term? I’m finding it all a bit discombobulating Confused

My DSs currently at Uni did exams prior to the non exams/estimates so I don't have an axe to grind here.

I wonder if there will be any material change to the outcomes for DC who gained Uni or college places based on this? If there isn't then a lot can be attributed to DC not performing in exams as well as they might in a less formal setting rather than not have the wherewithal for Uni/college. If there is a higher rate of drop out that can't be attributed to changes in the Unis themselves or lower levels of honours grades received then maybe the formal exams help define better who is capable of achieving a decent degree?

There are loads of elements in it but I don't think it's as simple as grades being inflated compared to pre covid levels. All DC should be proud of what they have achieved.

Obviously not all DC go onto to Higher/further education and hopefully this has helped other DC get apprenticeships or jobs and they are able to demonstrate their capability in person. Harder to measure whether increased passes or grades affect this part of the cohort though I imagine.

One of dd's friends mums has committed the cardinal patenting sin of posting her daughters certificate out on Facebook,

CRINGE.

Did now thinks I'm not such an embarrassment any more.

There's always the usual culprits on my fb too

I haven't seen a single FB posting this year, ds says he saw one of his friends pages where his mum had posted, and asked why I didn't and wasn't I proud of him 🤔

He then had me in a very panicked, (non abusive or threatening!) headlock and grabbing my phone when I started typing out a rather lovely post for him 🤣
