No holidays for the foreseeable but want to plan a couple of days away for DH's birthday first week August.

Any recommendations for nice hotels where we can see the sea? In Scotland - can't go too far.

I remember the food being wonderful at the Port Charlotte Hotel on Islay.

@DreamingofBrie I've been there, it is lovely.

Following, some great suggestions here.

Arran is lovely and there are loads of places with sea views. Not sure of their availability though.

Snookie00 · 05/07/2021 22:55

Agree with @Sunbeam18. Pier House in Port Appin is the best seaside hotel and restaurant. Views and food are sublime.

@heidbuttsupper

I love Stonehaven, the Marine Hotel is right on the harbour
Yes to this, also No 44 in Stonehaven, it used to be the Royal hotel and some rooms have the most stunning views of Stonehaven bay.

Some fantastic suggestions - thank you so much! I'm working my way through. So little availability but plenty of ideas for the future!

Greywalls is looking like a strong possibility as it has availability and a great looking menu. I do love Stonehaven and that bit of coast - unfortunately for me a lot of others have got in first! Similarly with Port Appin and Elie.

We've just been at the Waterside Hotel, Seamill and it's lovely!

thebattleofschrutefarms · 06/07/2021 09:33

I had a rubbish experience at the Waterside in Seamill, still disappointed about it! I wouldn't recommend it.

Jumpingintosummer · 06/07/2021 09:46

Piersland house, Troon, not actual sea views but views of Royal Troon and sea 2min away.

The Bonnie Badger, Gullane.

Fairmont, St Andrews.

Not sea but, Lodge on the Loch, Loch Lomond.
