Has anyone turned up at a vaccination hub and been jabbed?

Im waiting for my second vaccine appointment, its not recorded in the system yet even though im getting close to 11 weeks apart. The helpline said just to wait. Others done same day as me already have appointments or actual jags.

Anyway, after reading about the missed appointments, i was thinking of turning up at the hub i got my first vaccine done, on the off chance they have any left spare.
I feel really cheeky, but im having counselling for anxiety due to covid and im desperate.

Has anyone done this? I do know of a 21 yr old who did this a few weeks ago and got his first dose.

Yes I know someone who did this, they were going anyway with a family member and asked if there were spaces and there were.

I booked but unknown to me it wasn't actually in the system somehow.

This became clear when I got there and they jabbed me anyway.

My DH did this accidentally - he thought he'd booked but it wasn't actually confirmed so he turned up genuinely believing he had an appointment. They told him to call 119 and say he was there and 119 gave him an appointment for that time. If you haven't got far to go I'd try it out!

Hubs around me are doing special walk-in sessions. Maybe investigate that?

If you're in one of be areas with dodgy numbers at moment (which I think you may be?) I'd be tempted to just turn up later in the day. If they got the vaccines there you'll get it. Only reason I can imagine they'd turn you away is if they haven't got supply of vaccine you had for 1st dose that day

I think its worth a try, they might ask you to come back at the end of the day?

A friend went along with her husband and although they weren't able to jab her at the time, they took her number and said they'll call later if there are any spare.

Have you used the missed appointment link? My dad was over 11 weeks, filled it in and got an email the same day with appointment. It was scheduled for week 14 though, so I rescheduled to bang on 12 weeks. He’s in shielding category as well. I’m his unpaid carer, got an email today with my second scheduled for 10 weeks after first.

Are you all talking about getting the vaccine in Scotland?

I assume you're in England @Keepkondoing ? we don't book appointments in Scotland they get issued to us.

My friend got a phone call last week to go for her due 2nd vaccine the following day and was told to just turn up any time in the afternoon! I went for my first yesterday and I'd say most people in the queue were there for their 2nd and the lady behind me said she only got her letter on saturday.....and they wonder why there's so many no shows

I thought id try as there were so many no shows at the weekend at the hydro. Im on the southside, so not at the hydro but i thought id still try.

I dont think im missing my appointment as its still within the 12 weeks but when i phone the vaccination helpline they say theres nothing in the system for me yet, although I wouldn't be surprised if its just after the letter as the time is nearly 12 weeks

The helpline told me just to wait, they have details of my first vaccine but no date yet for my second. I dont know if its worth filling the link out if the helpline doesn't have my appointment yet?

If you're coming up to 11 weeks and don't have one booked then I'd say you're missing an appointment! If you've got your username still from the first letter you can login and see if it's on the system.

Just got my letter today for my 2nd jag. 2nd will be exactly 11 weeks after my first. It's 10 days away, so plenty of notice in my case (East Dun).

DH had his second recently at the hydro. He was told there were "hundreds" who hadn't turned up. AS he left he noticed there was also a queue of folk who had just turned up and he heard staff telling these folk that they might need to wait up to 2 hours but they had around 200 spare vaccines to give out. Given the reported no shows, if you don't mind waiting I'd just turn up!

I got it. The staff were really decent. I wouldn't recommend trying it, as they said they can't do walk ins, but i got it at the last minute. Dont want to say where as i dont want to get anyone in trouble, but im relieved .
