Anyone with S4-S6 going in next week?

DD is super excited. She is back in next week at some point for her Nat 5 Drama classes. She has to go to the office on Monday and pick up a batch of 9 lateral flow tests, I am assuming she will be told to use one of those before leaving for school on the days she is in. (Clicky link for me to give permission for her to actually use the test broken though...)

The only subjects having kids in next week are drama, music technology (but not music), PE, graphic design, technical. No art, no home economics, no sciences.

DD is most delighted that they won't have to wear their uniform.

Our school will give tests out on the first day they are in. And they will be asked to do them twice a week

I have emailed the school to ask if DS can collect some tests when he is in tomorrow.
Takes him well over an hour to walk to school. I don’t think 2.5 hours of walking is a good use of his time on a Friday when he has home learning to do.
I work from home but Friday is a really busy day for me so I can’t be taking him to collect tests every week.

What kind of sense does that make? I thought the point was to ensure they were negative before they come into school?

@Belindabelle

Tests shouldn't need to be collected every week. Ours come in a pack of 7

dancemom · 22/02/2021 07:46

@DumplingsAndStew our ones for teachers came in packs of 7 they said but the ones for pupils came in packs of three?

Dd ruined 2 last night before we were successful the third time (and negative)

DumplingsAndStew · 22/02/2021 08:01

Oh thats interesting! I wonder why people are being given different packs.

Had to phone school this morning as the clicky permission form link is broken and they won't let under 16s collect lateral flow tests without permission... still waiting for the email. Office staff don't seem to know what's going on, which is a good start.

We got a pack of 9 tests, to be done twice weekly

RaspberryCoulis · 23/02/2021 08:10

DD picked up her 9 tests yesterday. Looks fairly complicated - certainly more complex than "pee on a stick" or stick a swab in your mouth.

And then we get an email saying she's in school for the sum total of 2 periods. Hmm

I just got an email this afternoon saying DD is in for her hospitality class (for a double period). I am ridiculously pleased for her. I think I will be over the moon when they are all getting some opportunity to go in 🤞

dancemom · 23/02/2021 21:01

Dd got told today she would also be going in for language classes speaking assessments

Dd was asked at 3pm yesterday to come in this morning to give a progress report on her AH computing project. Cue a big panic as it works on the home PC but how to get info to the school?

Ended up transferring code to her laptop but couldn't get bits to work on it so she had to take screenshots of it working on the PC instead. Spent hours trying to get it to work as well.

After all that she was only in for 40 minutes! She brought home 3 test kits in case she has to go back in.
