Early Feb and Jan birthdays and moving to Ayrshire

We are considering a potential move to be near family in Ayrshire. We have Jan/Feb babies and would have definitely deferred their start had we been living in Scotland when they started. We would hopefully be moving near primary secondary transition for one, and would really want them to go into P7 and not S1. They are doing well at school, sit on top tables mostly etc etc but a move would impact on their learning, and would def not want them finishing school at 17 and a half. Would it be a reasonable possibility, a battle but possible, or no chance?

Yes it shouldnt be a problem.

You might be best contacting the council for whichever Ayrshire county you are looking at- or even the actual schools you would be looking at if you know exactly where you plan to live. Because they are Jan/Feb kids and could have been automatically deferred at p1 I would have thought it would be ok, but I couldn't be sure.

Should be no problem. Just contact the primary school and enrol into P7. When I enrol Jan/feb pupils I ask which year group they want them to go into.

Sounds entirely sensible and shouldn't be an issue.

Many thanks, this is really good to know. And will really take a weight off my mind. Lots of hurdles yet though so fingers crossed.
