Nice Hotels

We have a big anniversary this year and looks like our European break won't happen. I'm looking for nice hotels no more than 90 minutes.

I'd like somewhere with a nice restaurant or in a city with nice restaurants.

Wondering if there are any hidden gems out there before I book one of the more well known places.

That's disappointing about Monachle Moor but good to know.

We did Monachyle Mhor for a special anniversary and while it was ok it's shockingly expensive for patchy service and food. We were £1000 for two nights DBB. Service is weird - overly attentive to couldn't care less. Breakfast was poor, dinner lovely. We'd been a few times over the years but both agreed we'd not be back.

We stayed at the Monachyle Mohr a long time ago and the service was absolutely awful most of the time. They could not have cared less about us. Interesting to hear that things are still the same.

We usually go to the Steak Barn, it's fun and the food is pretty good (mostly for meat eaters). I think it's not open in winter.
