Flu jab letter... but no health condition?

Hi everyone,

I have no underlying health conditions, 30 years old, never had a flu jab (unless during pregnancies)... but this morning I had a letter from NHS allocating me a flu jab appointment for next month. Any ideas on why I'd be allocated this?

Have tried phoning the 'queries' number but it just says no one is available and hangs up. I had my second baby in September so it's the only thing I can think of?? Are postnatal women now given flu jabs? Thanks!

Have you had any illnesses in the past year that required steroid treatment perhaps?

MrsMyreton · 23/10/2020 14:16

Hi @everyothernamewastaken thanks for replying. Nope, no steroid treatments or anything. Baffled!

Bet you're still on a pregnancy list.

My DH got one of those this morning. He was also surprised as he is absurdly fit and healthy (does ironman triathlons).

MrsMyreton · 23/10/2020 15:26

That's what I think @JacobReesMogadishu

@Neolara how strange!

Are you in Glasgow?
My DM is in Glasgow, late 70s and still hasn’t had a letter.
( she’s booked to have it done in a local chemist)

There seems to be something very strange going on with the flu jab distribution in Glasgow this year.

SWLondonTown · 23/10/2020 15:31

Our GP offers them to breastfeeding mothers so could it be that?

Evilwasps · 23/10/2020 15:44

Interesting that this is happening.
I have got a health condition, but haven't had a letter yet. I keep getting fobbed off by the GP surgery who say can only book for the flu jag once I've received the letter which should be in the post soon as I'm on their list. I've had it annually for years without issue so why is there a problem now? And why are they inviting people who don't need or want it?

MrsMyreton · 23/10/2020 17:40

I'm in Forth Valley @BusyDreaming and not breastfeeding @SWLondonTown !

My FIL lives five mins away and he received his letter, detailing his appointment date and time this morning too... but he has chronic heart disease Confused
