Positive case at school today, what to expect?

If this happened at your school I’d be grateful to hear how it went. Not sure if it’s really a Scotland-specific question but it feels sensible to try here first.

We got a text about an hour ago. It says the school has its first confirmed learner case and they’ll “be in touch with families concerned shortly”.

I’m wondering what “shortly” means, and how long needs to pass before we can assume they aren’t going to contact our family specifically.

Or maybe another general message will come? Will they tell us which class is affected, even if it’s not our dc’s class?

We had a positive case in our school a few weeks ago. First we got a letter from track and trace saying they would follow up with close contacts that needed to self isolate.

Less than an hour letter we received a letter saying my son was a close contact and needed to self isolate and gave the date isolation would end. It was a full class plus all of p4-p7 who attended after school club.

The school delivered home learning via Ms teams for those self isolating for the duration.

We've had a few cases at our secondary school - it's all those who are in close contact, those who sit within 2m in class and those in different year groups/classes who sit at the same desk in the different classrooms who get sent home.

Johnstone High a few weeks who was absolutely riddled with it and the council had to admit to in school transmissions despite trying very hard to claim they were all community based!

We got told same day if needed to isolate.

Just had an email from the adjacent primary (where my younger child goes) saying they have a case too :/

We've had emails about 3 separate cases. Last 2 were 2nd October and today. None of my kids have been affected so far. Maybe it's good the October week starts for us next week

I hope it isn't spreading in the area.
