Kids in cars

I think I know the answer to this but I cant find any definitive guide online.

My 9 year old son and his friend are attending a morning workshop in the holidays that fit all the social distancing criteria.

In normal times we would take son's friend with us in the car but obviously at the moment we aren't meant to car share.

Does that include under 11s?

If it makes a difference they are in a bubble at school together.

We are happy to take them separately if we need to but it would be a lot easier if they can go together.

As I understand it, the Do Not car share thing is advisory not illegal.

Asking them all to wear masks would be a sensible precaution, in addition to the general 'if unwell with covid type symptoms self isolate' etc etc.

As above, it's advisory. We take a friend of DDs to a sporting activity as she is a boarder. She, dh and dd all wear masks and the windows are down. Touch points are cleaned before and after.

This seemed more sensible than the friend going in a taxi which was the only other option. At least way the friend is limiting who she is in contact with rather than up to 6taxi drivers a week.

Oh great, thanks both. We will put on masks and open the windows.

Wouldn't that be a casual childcare scenario? Not sure what the situation is re cars, but we walk some school friends of dc to an activity.

I take three kids to an after school sporting activity- they are all under 11, in same bubble at school. I don’t ask them to wear masks and I don’t wear one, I tend to have the window in the front open anyway.
So I figure it’s my risk, as their parents are all fine with kids together in my car and we don’t have responsibility for any elderly relatives, so on balance it’s perfectly safe to do until one of them has a gastro bug to pass on. Probably most important thing is to check if the other parent is happy with the arrangement (e.g. they may not want mask on child?).

I give a friend's child a lift to a class, she brings mine back. We don't do masks and don't do window opening. And I don't wipe anything either.

Thanks everyone's. Other parent is happy for their son to share I'll ask her if she would prefer masks on. But since they are in a small bubble even within the bubble of their class I think it won't be necessary.

We do lifts for football training, all under 10 year old. No adults mixing, all kids are in same class at school.

Thanks all. We're going to take them together
