Renting in Ayrshire - Largs?

Grateful for any advice 😊.

We (my husband, 8 month old baby and myself) are looking to move to Ayrshire from South East England to be nearer some of our family, hopefully around December time. We are hoping to rent somewhere around West Kilbride or possibly Largs.

We are familiar with West Kilbride and hope that a flat might come up for us there (one bedroom/ two bedroom would be fine) but if not then maybe would look at Largs. We have been there a few times but wouldn't know about living there. Would you say it would be a nice place for a small, young family to live? There are a few flats there at the moment that look quite nice for what we're looking for!

Budget around £450 pm.

Would love to hear from people who know more.

Thanks! 😊👍

I wouldn't discourage Largs especially with a 8 month old the nursery there is great and also lots of toddler groups obviously they aren't running just now. But I'm always meeting mums at parks etc and everyone has always been so lovely . And it's possible to get a nice house for that price.

Bust days aren't that bad actually I enjoy to see the town busy and the events that are held throughout the year are great.

Again schools are both good.

And the is a good range of shops and transport links.

@Autumnrose9 thank you for your reply. Yeah, we have really looked Lardgs the times that we have been for day trips, which is why I thought we could look at it as a possibility to rent for a while. Very mixed reviews! Maybe it depends where in Largs?

I've been in contact with a letting agent about some places in West Kilbride but everything is going so quickly at the moment, so I'm finding it hard to find anywhere! We were sent a link to one outside of what we'd like to pay but it was so perfect in pretty much every other way we thought maybe we could go for it but I think it has gone already! 🤦 We will keep looking and see what we find 😊.

@lovesT I live in the West Kilbride - Largs area and have done all my life 😊 happy to help with specific questions about the area if there’s anything you want to know 😊 or if you see any properties and want to know about their specific location I’m happy to pass on any info I have 😊

Stewarton has a Sainsburys and there's an ALDI under construction right next door. Both are next to the railway station, which is very central.

I spent the last couple of days in Largs, and would much rather stay there than in Stewarton. Not that there’s anything wrong with Stewarton, I just prefer Largs.

People from Stewarton go to Largs for a day out. Not sure that people from Largs come to Stewarton for a jaunt.

@RWK29 thank you so much 😊 any thoughts on Nelson Street, Morris Street and Boyd Street? Happy for you to pm me or reply on here ☺️.

@Albless thanks, yeah we have really liked Largs when we've been there. There must be some nice places to live!? Maybe it is a worth a look.

Thanks everyone ☺️

haven't quite given up on West Kilbride, but it's proving difficult to find a place!

Can anyone tell me more about Dalry? Thanks!
