Covid restrictions & childcare

Does today’s announcement mean grandparents can’t look after kids in their home? Thinking of the October holidays.

I'm pretty sure grandparents can still do childcare, but no doubt someone more knowledgeable will be along to tell you!

Yeah I think that's correct. Seems to say under 12 exempt and then under the 14.58 update on BBC it says informal childcare exempt.

I took from it that childcare is an exception but we can't go into the house when we pick them up?

Sorry to hijack but are kids (3, 5 and 13) allowed to visit their other parent. I cant make head nor tail of the guidance.

They were under full lockdown so I'd be very surprised if they weren't now.

It specifically says childcare is exempt from the new ruling

@DifficultPifcultLemonDifficult they've always been able too, even in proper lockdown back in March. Those guidwlines have never changed.

supersonicginandtonic thanks, I suspected they would but couldnt find it under the new guidance.

I was listening to the radio as she was speaking and she cited adhoc childcare from people like grandparents as a specific exemption.

So basically children can go to grandparents/ aunties/cousins for sleepovers and we can say it’s informal childcare?!
