Does anyone know anything about it? Any info would be appreciated.
The website is a bit basic which is not too promising.

Was it formerly Beaconhurst?

WaxOnFeckOff · 13/08/2020 10:58

I'm local but not heard anything either way. I think a lot of people transferred their dc to dollar etc when Beaconhurst shut and have just stayed where they are.

WaxOnFeckOff · 13/08/2020 11:04

Also constantly get adverts for open days etc on the Next-door community pages.

Mrsjayy · 13/08/2020 11:11

It was leafleted where I live not to long ago and tbh where I live isn't really the demographic for private schools I think it's struggling for secondary age.

Mrsjayy · 13/08/2020 11:12

yes it is was Beaconhurst.

Arkadia · 13/08/2020 11:23

We were leafleted too :D
We are exploring options for HS, but there doesn't seem to be anything to know about this school.
It is a catch22 situation for them, isn't it. If people don't go, then nobody will know about them. But who wants to go to a mystery school?

Mrsjayy · 13/08/2020 11:29

Yeah mystery school indeed I looked at the website it is a bit vague I think dollar is more established.

WaxOnFeckOff · 13/08/2020 11:33

Neibours DC now go to dollar after being at beaconhurst. There must be a bus collection or something locally as when they do the school run they aren't away long enough to go to dollar and back so maybe dropping off in BofA. Beaconhurst used to do a shuttle to the train station so maybe dollar picking up there if it's pupils they've gained?

Lidlfix · 13/08/2020 11:39

Chat in educational circles in that neck of the woods is too risky at the moment. Fair amount of former staff couldn't be tempted back and preferred to stay in long term contracts or permanent posts in the state sector.

Seems to be only primary fully operational at present with a view to secondary opening "soon" .

Too much of a gamble when you have Dollar, Morrison's etc nearby. Dunblane used to end up with lots of former Beaconhurst kids when the glossy sport scholarships lost their shine.

WaxOnFeckOff · 13/08/2020 11:46

Local state schools are generally good so maybe private in general has lost a bit of its shine especially when there needs to be more travel. Someone local to me did Strathallan initially as a border on a full sporting scholarship but then daily. Definitely seemed to do them no end of good as think they were very middle of the road to lower level academically at primary but was hopeful of A level results to study law.

celtiethree · 15/08/2020 08:44

I believe the IB curriculum they are offering is v good, if you look at their Facebook page they seem to be very motivated and v engaged. Difficulty is pupil numbers. If you’re interested I’d focus on how they are going to managed to deliver upper years at the moment it seems to stop around age 12.

Very few ex Beaconhurst returned after moving to state, Dollar or Morrisons.

Hi everyone. Five years later, do you have any updates about Fair View School? I am considering it for primary school.
