Flights over Kilbrachan / Lochwinnoch

Hi everyone,

We are looking to move to the villages on the south outskirts of Glasgow/Paisley. We are particularly keen on Kilbrachan and Lochwinnoch. The thing that concerns us is noise pollution from the new Glasgow Airport Flight Path.

Obviously at the moment with there being a huge reduction in the number of flights it is hard to tell what the noise levels would normally be like. Does anyone live in the area and is able to let me know? How noises is it? How many times a day roughly. Etc.

Many thanks in advance! :)

I’m in Lochwinnoch, Don’t notice flight noise very often. There’s an active lochwinnoch Facebook group, you could join that and ask. There are probably people on there who pay more attention to planes than I do...

As I mentioned earlier, Emirates is the noisiest a low deep, slow rumble, if you want to hear it at it's worse try the Tesco Linwood car park you are pretty near the end of the runway, you can sit there with flight radar. You will also get 5 arrivals and 4 take off around 8-10 on tomorrow night, grab a coffee at Tim Hortons at the Phoenix and make a night of it Wink Grin

I was brought up near locjwonnoch and was of a vast amount of flights but you get used to it .
Yesterday we visited friends and my 4 year old was terrified of the noise.
