In light of what John Swinney said today about it being unlikely schools return to normal in the next academic year, how worried are you about your teen in exam years?
My husband and I have worked full time through lockdown and we have left her to it mainly. Just realised last week when I got a chance to have a look that she has barely engaged. Marked stuff as handed in but nothing done. Teachers have dished out the work then few days later put up the answers.
Only had 2 things marked the whole of lockdown.
So I've sat on her all week (she's a procrastinator and now overwhelmed)
What will happen? I'm scared she will be marked down now and this will go against her.
No idea how they will cover the course for exams next spring?
Bound to be even worse for Highers students who didn't even get their nat5 exam experience!

What's your thoughts on what will happen? (I know no one knows )

P.S. I've got it ! are you part of a patrol that scours mumsnet - an educational Mary Whitehouse - to make sure that everyone is kept in their place ? I'm trying not to make fun out of your " take yourself too seriously " but if you'd only kept your assumptions to yourself .........
All the best " stillraining" maybe the sun will shine through for you one day .

Does anyone know if kids who are going into S4 will still start their Highers course in the first week of June, 2021? The reason I ask is because in England they are looking at pushing the exams for the equivalent to S4 back until around July and so I wondered if something similar is being considered in Scotland? Have researched but not found any info.

Nothing has been decided yet re the exams for next year. The SQA published this yesterday which does mention a review of the timetable:

@hosnav. That’s when the new courses usually start. Most are finished exams and the new timetable starts first week in June. This would have to be pushed back a bit though if exams were later. Normally it’s a bit messy anyway. A lot of pupils are going to change course when they get their results and pupils miss classes due to trips or other sporting events, etc. There’s always a lot of revision after the holidays.

@celtiethree thanks for the link - I have set up an alert so I will hopefully get the news once it's been decided. My son is moving from the English system to the Scottish system in 2021 so all the possible changes in exam dates could potentially make things even more difficult for him than we expected.

@Needachemistrytutor I sent you a PM.
