Summer holiday clubs

I'm totally confused. Has a decision been made about summer holiday clubs running in Scotland? I had emails from holiday clubs I've used a few weeks ago asking if I'd potentially be needing this Summer, but then got something from one saying it's only available for key workers. So I'm unclear if that's a new development from government, or if a decision that club is stipulating. Another club said they're running from a different location but would I be interested. I'm totally confused......but then my head is in a total jumble at the moment and I've not been on top of the news and the daily briefings.....

I work for my local council as an EYP as I've deployed to the summer childcare hubs as only they will be open in Edinburgh as far as I am aware. They've reduced the number of hubs too.

Ok so are you saying only council run hubs will open and no private summer holiday clubs will be allowed to operate?

The guidance from the quality care commission is being published today. Our private holiday club has said they’ll know more from today onwards. Some have been canvassing parental opinion ahead of this as there’s no point them investing in whatever they need (Antibac, Ppe etc) if they’re not going to get enough customers.

Sorry it’s the care inspectorate now isn’t it?

Thank you. It's so hard to navigate all he information re plans, what's confirmed, what's happening in Scotland Vs England, what's Scotland wide vs local.

A couple of holiday places by us have said phase 3 before they can look at opening.

So far the council has only sent the holiday hubs to those already using them.

Just to add I'm in Glasgow if that makes a difference.

We're expecting registered services to be allowed to open in phase 3, which best guess might be middle of July.

Snappyteabread · 18/06/2020 17:53

Ok does that mean for everyone then? Or specifically key workers?

As far as we know we should be able to offer to everyone - the latest guidance has info on allocations which suggests that keyworker should be prioritised but we can then offer to others. We're a private asc though, not hub which I'd expect to be keyworker only. This is just our expectation though, we'll open if possible but many others won't

All holiday clubs in my area have said they won't be operating this summer due to covid and lockdown restrictions. Only childcare available is childminders and key worker hubs.
