Lighthearted - what do you call the residue in your tumble drier?

Lint? Fluff? Oose?

Dh uses "oose" upon which I am conflicted. Is it couthie or cute?

Oose for me too (weegie)

weebarra · 09/01/2020 11:09

Oose. Originally from the weeg, now east.

nicslackey · 09/01/2020 11:22

Dry fluff in the filter is lint here and the wet mess in the pull out water bit is gunk or gunge!!!

prettybird · 09/01/2020 13:41

Dry fluff is "oose" here. Also applies to that dandelion fluff that gets everywhere in early summer.

youkiddingme · 09/01/2020 13:51

We just call it fluff. And we collect it in old tubs then in early spring put it out in old fat-ball hangers for the birds to take it for nesting. They seem to like it a lot. Never heard of oose before, thanks for a new word learned!

Another one for oose! This word so reminds me of my lovely mum and has made me smile to day. ( bits of fluff on jumpers etc was also called oose.)

Asterisktheknackered · 09/01/2020 14:13

Oose, fabulous word.

prettybird · 09/01/2020 16:08

Pronounced of course Wink oooss for those that haven't come across the word before Grin

BaronessBomburst · 09/01/2020 16:13

Fluff.

"Would someone empty the drier please, and fold the washing?"
DS and DH just grunt and continue to stare at their gadgets.
"I haven't emptied the fluff filter yet......."
"Me! Me! Me! Me!" by them both in unison as they fling their gadgets aside and race to the drier. Grin

I remember by gran mentioning it when we visited her in Kelvinside, Glasgow, the read about it in the lovely JJ Bell Wee McGreegor stories and it just seemed a good word. Times changed then it reemerged when dh started using it.
