Posted this in Chat and a poster suggested it would be better here:

We plan to move to the Bearsden/Milngavie area of Glasgow in time for start of summer term 2020. We will visit both schools but looking for other feedback on them too please. Would love to hear views, good or bad.

TIA

With curriculum of excellence better to consider private as it demands very less till S3. Depends on the child, with mixed ability all through and lighter curriculum till S3 (in some cases beyond ) compared to English one its difficult to work for high potential kid. Primary education is nothing compared to English one. It depends highly on the school as there is no set curriculum but overall the expectation is minimal to a point of frustration for a abled kid. Its good for the struggling ones as the support is good and also very friendly.

Is there a reason you bumped a 3.5 year old thread to have a wee rant about schools?

Its still a valid discussion for anyone wants to decide on schools. For our HLP learner we are suffering a lot with top state schools specially after covid. So worth considering that good catchment may not work for all.

@Windows85 I'm doing the same move from England this year - any advice? I know this post is old but I assume you are well settled now? Husband is Scottish but not lived in Glasgow for years. Looking same areas, or possibly Clarkston type area. Any advice on areas or schools welcome. Oldest is currently in the English equivalent to P4 and Youngest P3
TIA
