Commute from East Renfrewshire to Hamilton

Thinking of relocating to East Ren (Eaglesham, Mearns, Clarkston). New job is based in Hamilton.

Does anyone have an idea of how long that commute would take? I'm guessing that although it's a short journey distance-wise, traffic around the Raith is heavy in the morning?

It depends where snouts in Hamilton, you should be able to come off and Blantyre and go through the back. Tbh the Raith is a million times better than it used to be: I’d say 1/2 hour from NM

Thanks @Redtartanshoes - that's very do-able. I'm guessing it was much worse before Raith was re-modelled.

I wasn't sure how much the EK expressway snagged up, or the traffic through Stewartfield.

Depends on times and such like but I don’t think it will be too bad

Elllicam · 04/08/2019 21:31

Probably not that bad. There’s a lot of little country backroads you can go onto if the motorways are madly busy.

20 mins via EK

DH works in centre of Hamilton. Loads of his colleagues commute from East Ren. Journey time not problem particularly because of flex time. Only thing they complain about is parking (having to pay for It).

Aurignacian · 05/08/2019 20:08

Definitely go via E.K. Probably 1/2 hour max

LemonadePockets · 05/08/2019 20:11

As above, definitely easier to go through EK, traffic there can be busy the same as anywhere but commute would be around 30min I expect

Kaykay06 · 05/08/2019 20:11

Not long, I’ve done Eaglesham to Wishaw in a morning via hamilton took me 35 mins my sister does it too from Eaglesham to hamilton doesn’t take her long at all 25/30 mins at the most

Thanks all - this is all sounding very promising.

DH works in Stirling so have to consider his commute too. But he'll be leaving around 7.30/45am & can choose between the M77 or M74.

I'd be dropping DC at breakfast club or school so would need to leave a bit later.
