Main site for finding a rental property in Scotland? (Fort William Area)

Hi - I may be moving to Scotland to take up a job in the next few months - in the Fort William area.

Obviously would need to rent a house/flat (at least initially) but looking on rightmove there is nothing available!

I'm wondering if a.)There is a different site with more Scottish properties? b.)There ARE zero rentals in the area hence a move may be impossible! c.) All rentals are holiday or Air BnB lets........

Is there a Facebook page for buying\renting in the area? Often in rural areas it’s by word of mouth or through local contacts, or adverts in the local shops. Hopefully someone from the area will be along soon on here!

I second MrsAmaretto’s comment that word of mouth would be the best approach. There’s a Fort William buy swap sell group on FB - maybe try a post on there first asking for suggestions. Maybe gumtree as well?

I agree about the buy and sell page....join that and stick a post on and see how you go. I think that’s prob your best ‘in’

Assuming you have checked S1 homes & Citylets?

It is a tricky area to get rentals in as there are so many holiday lets. It might also be worth joining the Oban buy and sell page. If you have a car you could maybe stay somewhere outside of Fort William that’s within driving distance eg ballachulish.

There's a massive shortage of rental properties in Fort William at the moment which is only likely to increase with the expansion of the aluminium smelter. Have a look on Gumtree and I agree with other posters to put a message on a local fb page saying what you are looking for. You could also contact your future employer and ask if they could ask other employees if they know of anywhere.
