Primary schools in Newlands/Shawlands

Was hoping for some advice on nurseries around Newlands. We're moving to Langside hopefully in November. We'll be in the catchment area of Langside Primary School where my 8-year-old will be going. We've got a 4-year-old too and need to find a nursery in the area. I wanted to it be one where she'll make friends with children going to Langside primary and I wondered if anyone had any advice on the best ones to go for.

It's been a while since I was in that neck of the woods but Dean Park Nursery on Deanston Drive traditionally sent a fair number to both Langside and Shawlands primaries. Think there's also a nursery in Battlefield Primary although my information might be out of date on that one.

Thanks that's really helpful it looks like Dean Park would be the one which I hadn't realised. Sounds like it's a bit oversubscribed though.

Hopefully someone from the area with more recent experience will be along soon and can advise. Might be worth phoning the Council to get a request in?

When is the four year old’s birthday? They would be in P1 if they were 5 before March (unless you are deferring, of course).

Nurseries are very full in Glasgow so I’d give the council a phone.
