I'd recommend Otro at the West End at Coates Crescent for dinner.

Realise you've booked already, but I like Harvey Nics brasserie or Chaophyra - both have great views.

Also heard good things about Dishoom (but you can't book in advance) & Restoration yard on St Andrews Sq.

I like Dine for pre-theatre - good value.

Unfortunately my car has broken down and I'm miles from public transport so looks like Cinders is not going to the ball after all Sad

Oh boo! Sorry for putting you off done, the foods fine I just always think you're paying for the surroundings rather than actual food quality.

Nightmare.

I went to Cau last night. 3 courses and drinks was £38.

Cinders found a pumpkin and got to the Ball after all!

IMissGin Yes you are right.
Had a couple of glasses of Champagne at the Balmoral.
Prettily shaped, big glasses, 3 kinds of nice nibbles. Felt special.
Dinner at the Dome - neither of us super-hungry so just went for main of chicken with wild mushrooms and potato gratin, which was good, but £18 and had to pay £4 extra for some wilted greens. Shared a cheese for pud which was fine but not plentiful for £10. Agree, food fine but mostly pay for surroundings. Had quick glass of champagne before we left at the bar in the main Dome area which was same price as Balmoral but a smaller plain glass and no snacks. Also every so slightly flat.

BUT had a completely fabulous time with my friend anyway.
Would happily have had a chip supper he is such good company so even the Dome was a treat.

Thanks for all input.x
