This morning I threatened to set alarm clocks for 8am 'to practise' for next week Grin

DD is going into P3 Shock

She has saved up all her birthday money to go to Smiggle so we will be braving that later on this week and then we are ready.

Nooooooooo! I don't want to go back to work and the school run and getting up early.

We've had such a chilled out summer and I don't want it to end

I might even stamp my feet on Monday when I have to go in for in-service and the kids have an extra day

Dd starts p1 and ds p4
Hoping I have everything dd needs as I seem to have emptied my bank account paying for it all!!

LordPercy · 10/08/2017 14:27

I've 2 days inset to survive before we even get the kids in on Wednesday. My own dcs are desperate for school and as usual have ruined my holiday counting down the bloody days left until school starts 👿

Littlewhistle · 10/08/2017 17:11

I don't want to go back on Monday, We have an extra day before the kids come back as there has been a lot of work going on in the school and nobody has been allowed in. I was really looking forward to getting my class all ready but I'm worried about the amount of chaos and mess we will find Shock

God I'm so desperate to get mine back to school. They are driving me insane with their bickering and hassling me about being bored, but everything I suggest we do is boring too. 6 days to go.
We bought new school shoes for everyone and new jumpers for the eldest because they have different P7 jumpers. Apart from that we have everything we need really.
Poor old ds3 who is starting P1 is getting everything passed down from his brothers. What a change from when ds1 started and everything was all shiny and new and labelled weeks in advance.

Allyg1185 · 10/08/2017 18:16

My ds is going into p2 on Wednesday. Uniform all bought and labelled. Don't need to practice getting up early hes been up between 6am and 7am all through the holidays anyway Hmm

EsmeWeatherwax · 10/08/2017 23:25

Mine go back on Tuesday. P6, P4 and DS is going into P1, which is breaking my heart...my wee boy! Can't wait for a couple of hours peace though....😂😂

FlippingBottleFlippers · 11/08/2017 07:31

I have one starting S1 on the 22nd, one starting P1 on the 23rd, one going into P3 and one going off to uni early September (eeeek). School stuff all sorted apart from pencils, tights and socks. The S1 was hardest to shop for as everything had to be just right, no way was I getting away with M&S and clarks! The P1 is my youngest and is so excited to be finally going to school. This week I aim to get them back into a routine as they will really struggle!

Groovee · 11/08/2017 12:46

Back on the 16th. Feel like we've done nothing because I had surgery.

OOAOML · 11/08/2017 15:24

Back on the 16th, S3 and P7. Pretty much sorted, although DD has gone from 'no, I don't need any new jumpers' to 'I think I need a bigger jumper'. Shoes were done at the weekend (to much mumping from DD who dreads being spotted with us and her brother).

DS is pretty good at getting up in the morning. Have been trying to make sure DD is up by 9 this week. She also needs to get on with the homework she has suddenly remembered she needs to do after assuring me a couple of weeks ago that everything was done.

At the end of term I felt they were both really tired and needed the rest. Now I am convinced that they need back to routine. And I need my Mondays (my non-work day) back!

ClaireBRFraser · 11/08/2017 18:24

I heard a classic school skirt argument today- it's too short, no it isn't Mum, you're not wearing it, everyone else is!

Grin

(I am dreading that!)

A Tuesday start is really a strange day. Better than Monday though!

dementedpixie · 11/08/2017 18:27

My Dd likes the skater style skirts rather than the pencil ones and they seem to be a bit longer so I don't have to complain about her skirt length. Mine only have a 2 day week next week - Thursday and Friday

Noofly · 12/08/2017 17:14

Ours go back on the 28th though DD is going into S1 so she has an induction morning the Friday before. I'm taking her to London straight after it for a flying visit and she's currently whinging about the logistics of getting changed out of her school uniform in the car (leaving the car at the airport),

I think she's looking forward to S1. It's hard to tell with her as everything is met with shrug these days. DS goes into S4 and he is just disappointed to find that he isn't taking any classes that have school trips this year ("Why didn't I take Georgraphy?? WHY????")

Scotlass · 12/08/2017 17:27

Mine is back on Thursday, going into P4. Think we're sorted but just been reminded about gym shoes, glad I clicked on this thread that'll be tomorrow's job Grin
I managed to avoid paying extortionate smiggle pencil case price as told him the teacher would probably confiscate it within 10 mins as he wanted the one you record into.

DD is starting at uni this year and I can't tell you the relief of not doing the hell that is shopping for teenage school uniform / bag / shoes. Have given her money to buy some jeans and that's that.

dementedma · 12/08/2017 17:31

DS goes into s5 on Tuesday....or is it Wednesday? Better check.Having spent the summer lying in bed u til lunchtime and then playing xbox until the wee small hours, I'm not over confident about him actually getting out of bed.

ny20005 · 12/08/2017 18:08

Mine go back Tuesday & I had to do a last minute dash to clarks for gym shoes as they both just couldn't fit into pairs I already have 🙄

Thankfully I have boys so no make up or skirt issues 😬

unlimiteddilutingjuice · 12/08/2017 18:30

All name tags now sewn in with wonky stitches
I think it's safe to say, I'll never show this level of enthusiasm again.
Even his little plimsolls have name tags!

My Mum was recommending I name tag the inside arms of his jacket so I could prove it's definately DS's property, if another Mum attempts to steal it!
I'm not going that far......

ClaireBRFraser · 12/08/2017 19:09

I write DD's name in the linings with sharpie, works just the same!

I have to say no-one has ever stolen anything. Losing things on the other hand...

I have bought everything ds (15) needs and asked him repeatedly if he needs anything else. Tonight, he tells me he needs a pen! A pen. Singular! Oh, and a haircut.
I give up

IHaveBrilloHair · 13/08/2017 18:35

Dd still isn't properly registered so it's v stressful.
She has a place, but we need to go in and sort out her choices, I need to sign forms etc.
The School goes back on Wednesday but will be open tomorrow so we'll be on the phone trying to sort it out.
Luckily it has no uniform so nothing to buy, and she has plenty of pens/pencils/notebooks/calculator etc.

IHaveBrilloHair · 13/08/2017 18:37

dementedma
If you'd bought him 20 pens and a haircut he'd probably need a pencil and a pedicure.
Teenagers, arrrrrrgh.

StoorieHoose · 13/08/2017 18:48

DD going into P7 on 22nd. braved the town today for school shoes which was not successful - Schuh was heavin' so I've ordered online. Still got to get a pencil case but after buying everything new last year she went in on the first day and the teachers said they weren't to use their own and to use the school pencils. So have at least 50 pencils from last year but will wait to find out what this years teachers plans are

Groovee · 13/08/2017 19:05

Another day over and Ds still doesn't have shoes 😩

dementedma · 13/08/2017 19:16

You are right brilo.I have give up on pencil cases as he just sticks pens and pencils in his trouser pockets then wonders why his pockets all have holes in them!

FortyFacedFuckers · 13/08/2017 19:53

Ds starts S1 on Thursday we are ready, although I'm not mentally prepared for my baby to be at high school! ShockConfused
