Dakota or Norton House hotel?

Hi,
I've got a wedding to go to and the Dakota hotel & norton house hotel are both recommended in the wedding invite details.

Any recommendations? We're just staying two night with no kids and not intending to go into Edinburgh. Thanks

Norton House is lovely... that would definitely get my vote!! Enjoy your stay

Norton. Dakota is next to the busy road, Norton is set back and quieter.

I have stayed in the Dakota a few times, although not in the last couple of years, it's okay, but just looked at the other one and i would go there. It has a swimming pool too.

I stayed at Dakota last weekend. The room was lovely and despite the hotel being quite close to the road it was very quiet. The staff were helpful and professional and allowed us an early check in so we could leave our bags before heading to a wedding. They also organised taxis for us. The breakfast was good and I really like the decor of the rooms and restaurant/lobby. I haven't been to Norton House so can't compare.

We were going to a wedding nearby and the invite said they had arranged a group rate at Dakota but I got a cheaper price via Booking.com than the one offered on the invite so still shop around.

Where's the wedding?

Stayed at both. Norton House would be my first choice- lovely hotel. I find the Dakota a bit gloomy- although very modern.

If you're not going to be in room much I'd go for most convenient for venue. (If it's Dundas Castle then Dakota is much closer)

I'd say the Nortn too, road noise isn't a problem at the Dakota but it's very... brown.

Thanks! The wedding is at Carlowrie Castle.

Norton has nice outside space which would be good for the kids

I got married at the norton - it is gorgeous

I love the Norton. You get to use the Spa facilities too.

There are some Air BnB's in Queensferry that could be an option too.

Sunbeam18 · 18/05/2017 18:14

Oooo, Carlowrie lovely! I'd go for NH as its in lovely grounds and has the health club and spa

I love the Dakota and staying there is a proper treat for me. Norton has a great spa and lovely grounds but Dakota has style, ambience, mood and it's a bit different, it would get my vote every time.
