I have my own very confused (slightly traumatised) feelings about this image.

What do you think?

I know politicians are getting legs and toes out this week but come on!

Just checking in Smile

NoLotteryWinYet · 31/03/2017 00:00

these photo ops are hilarious - I so want to see a picture of a politician with their shoes and socks off! She's got my vote, er, not!

EnjoyYourVegetables · 31/03/2017 00:19

Ruth needs to counterattack with a new tank photo.

DorotheaBeale · 31/03/2017 00:37

Mrs T.'s shoes are actually in the photo, supporting the idea that she has just kicked them off. Nicola's shoes are nowhere to be seen.

I agree with pp, if I was going to curl up on a sofa to work on something when I was 'off duty', I wouldn't be doing it in a good suit and tights.

EnjoyYourVegetables · 31/03/2017 00:47

Tbh much as it pains me the Fatch was impressive.

Bejazzled · 31/03/2017 00:53

Hahaha, how stupid do the SNP think "the Scottish people" are lol

I'll just have a wee comfy seat after work (but keep on my suit and tights) and draft out this blurb - Ach it's probably one of the most important letter I'll ever write but hey ho - and omg who is the strange person in the corner with the camera!

Utterly patronising and pathetic imo

Lochan · 31/03/2017 00:57

Stop the presses: politician has photograph taken while working.

Goodness, how shocking.

you do realise that every single official photograph of a politician is contrived?

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 31/03/2017 01:25

Mrs Thatcher looks more comfortable as she's not wearing a jacket

DorotheaBeale · 31/03/2017 01:39

Well, that's rather the point. It's staged, but not very effectively. It's supposed to be a casual, informal pose, but she's not dressed casually or informally. She's supposed to have just kicked off her shoes, but her shoes aren't there. Her glass of vodka water is where she can't actually reach it, and a mug of tea would be more appropriate for the cosy image they're trying to suggest.

scaryclown · 31/03/2017 01:45

Its cool. I'd rather people read documents in the way that's best for them. The idea that a big desk makes you more competent is so colonial.

scaryclown · 31/03/2017 01:47

I must admit, people who sit on sofas are always very much like other people who sit on sofas

NoLotteryWinYet · 31/03/2017 06:59

I think it's supposed to tell us Nikki is so committed to destroying the UK that even after a hard week fighting the Scottish parliament for Scotland, she immediately gets down to drafting the letter - but hey - she's just like us because she kicks her shoes off after a tough week. Bunch of shit!

cdtaylornats · 31/03/2017 07:28

Tell her to get her feet of that piece of furniture - it's not hers - it's owned by the people of Scotland.

Justmuddlingalong · 31/03/2017 07:38

Who lounges on the sofa trussed up in a suit? She should be wearing jammies, after unhooking her bra and pulling it out via her sleeve.

UpAwfYerSeatWeeNippy · 31/03/2017 08:29

Yep in an independent Scotland we will do away with desks! Wouldn't want anyone to think we are colonial (despite the fact we joined in with our southern neighbours in the colonies after our own failed attempt at colonising places) The SNP would like to bury history in an independent Scotland. Why not just write a whole new one and brainwash kids with it!!!

It would have been cooler to see her reading it with a pint in an old dockers bar, or with a busted open pack of shortbread next to mug of coffee...

UpAwfYerSeatWeeNippy · 31/03/2017 08:44

Definitely. We need to put in a special request.

I saw it as a commentary on the fact women are dammed if they do and dammed if they don't - it's a mashup of the Kellyanne Conway sofa pic and the Legs-it one.

It could also be seen as an act of defiance after Legs-it, depending on how you look at it.

I would have wasted no time whatsoever in comparing it to this!

Could have been worse. See Victoria Beckham sofa pose

*damned!
Not sure what happened there!

NoLotteryWinYet · 31/03/2017 11:51

I immediately thought of the KellyAnne photo too - did they mean to channel Trump's team?
Nice shoes on VB though! I agree, I don't stick my leg in the air when relaxing!

TheDuckSaysMoo · 31/03/2017 11:57

I saw it as a rebellion against the legs-it horror. Good on her!

GahBuggerit · 31/03/2017 12:05

Oh it's tragic isn't it. Trying to portray an image of "oh so coolness" when she's just a kid stamping its feet.

And as if she drafted a letter sat like that, does she honestly think people believe this? Cringe!!!
