Mary Erskine school

Hello has anyone got a dyslexic child at Mary Erskine in Edinburgh ?
We are relocating and this school have availability for S1 . All other private schools appear to be full and I can not find anywhere for my other daughter who will go into p5 in August .
My eldest is currently on a drama scholarship and I'm curious to find out how strong they are on the arts .

Mary Erskine have a strong reputation for the arts and regularly have students and choirs involved in musical theatre productions in the Edinburgh Playhouse theatre outside of school as well as the world famous Edinburgh Tattoo in August. Have you looked at St Georges school for girls which is very nearby and may have places in both year groups for your girls together . It is not as big as MES but has a great reputation and all the girls I know from there are lovely.

Unfortunately I had very bad experiences going to MES but hopefully has now changed.

Choosing schools is so difficult because of childhood memories. I have very bad experiences at St G's ! -and equally hopefully that has now changed. I have a daughter who relatively recently left MES to go on to Uni and she has dyspraxia. I would say support from class and subject teachers was patchy as we went through the school. Also there is to be a new head of Support for Learning in the autumn term for ESMS (including MES) I believe - the existing person has been good and helpful at all times.

Support for learning at MES is very good. DD, while not dyslexic was given support from them. George Watsons does have a better reputation for dyslexia but if they don't have a place then it is certainly worth considering. MES is excellent for drama and the arts generally (probably the best reputation in Edinburgh!), the school productions are first class and the children often get the opportunities to take part in professional productions in Edinburgh.
