Nice places to visit in scotland

Can someone advice me of some nice places I can take the kids in Scotland, preferably south ish as we have previously been to Aberdeen and it was freezing and the kids cried a lot. Many Tia. Would love to go to islay or similar or mainland.

There's a lot in the SW
Beaches (often a bit muddy) to sit on, hills to climb.
Some things - Adventure playground and walks and biking
Dino park
petting zoo and play park
Castles, ice cream makers, nice cafes. You have to pay for most of these things but prob not too dear compared to down south.

North Berwick has a nice beach and an rspb visitor thingie. Short train or car from Edinburgh.

Arran 'Scotland in miniature' - castle, beach, hill to climb, hotel with spa facilities etc

Island of Cumbrae - very short boat trip from the mainland. Loads of bikes/trikes/four-wheel thingies to rent to cycle all the way round. Coastline, little play-park etc

Coylumbridge or Crieff Hydro - hotel/lodges for full or half-board. Aimed at families with extensive grounds tennis, padded play, quad bike, swimming, entertainment etc

Edinburgh!

Castle, loads of museums, trams, parks, near coastal places

Sorry. Just reread your post - nothing like Islay obviously.

The places I linked to are all within about half on hour's drive of each other, round Dumfries, just in case you think I am linking to random places in Scotland, OP.

Aberdour Beach is lovely, Anstruther has a small beach but you can get chips there.

Dumfries and Galloway. It honestly has everything

Absolutely gorgeous

If you can, definitely visit Islay, it's amazing.
