Is it just in England that children are weighed in P6 or does it happen in Scotland? My DC were weighed in P1.

I have a 16yr old and a 11yr old, never once have they been weighed at school.

I opted out of this for my dc who is in p2 but most of his class got weighed in p1 and I am sure they get weighed again when they are older so it could be p6.

I think they do get weighed and measured in P7. I should ask dd as she is in P7 just now!

dementedpixie · 14/05/2015 17:12

She says they haven't been weighed this year or last year

We got a letter home last month for DS p7 regarding a health check. There was a questionnaire about general health. DS has just told me he was weighed in P6.

When the NCMP was fist set up in the 1940s, I'm pretty sure it covered all of UK.

The Blair government fiddled with it, and it's now different depending on where you are.

In Scotland, there are 10 health authorities (about 52% of children) who collect data at routine child health reviews in P1.

I'd be a bit weary if your child is being weighed around p7age. I was weighed in p7 and they told me I was overweight and over height for my age. They didn't go on to say that meant I was in proportion etc.
I worked it out for myself though thanks to a positive attitude to food and health etc. I was actually very skinny growing up and thankfully didn't suffer any mental body image problems. A friend in my year was told the same and spent the rest of the day in tears because she thought she was fat.

ds is in P6 and as far as I can recall he's been measured and weighed twice in primary, but not this year. We are in East Ayrshire.

They do get weighed but I'm not sure when. I know we were given a form to sign when DS was in P1. We opted out.
