Anyone bought a new build with a part exchange?

How does moving day work for them?

We'll be moving into a new build in a month or so and I'm trying to plan what we need to do.

I know that they'll line up moving dates, but I don't know how much time we'll have for cleaning etc.

Any ideas?

Quite a long time ago but I recall it being really straightforward as we were only dealing with one other party. It was quick. Our exchange date was a fri I had packed everything ready for the van and stayed at my DMs on the Thursday night. As soon as the call came through to say the sale had completed DH loaded van and I cleaned - so easy in an empty property. When we arrived at new build we went straight to the show home and swapped keys. The builder would have permitted our carpet fitter in on the Friday even if the funds hadn't cleared. Enjoy your new home!

Looking at similar and builder has said that we can keep keys to our place for upto a week after we get the keys to the new place to help with moving/cleaning etc. That's assuming buyer of our place isn't waiting to get in.

Thanks both.

Our house is finished (!) so we're just waiting for the checks to be done and should find out our date of entry soon. Will be able to get more info from them then.
